CURIOSITY
Did you know that … in Poland in 2022, only 1.9% of defendants were acquitted of the acts charged in the indictment? In addition, only 1.2% of acquittals are final judgments?
Your chances of getting an acquittal if the prosecutor brings an indictment to the court are really low.
A lot depends on the legal steps you take. It is important that you know what opportunities are created for you by the provisions governing criminal law. It is also crucial to prepare defense tactics, so it is recommended to use the help of an attorney.
Even if you are ultimately guilty of the crime you are accused of, you have the right to defend yourself. You can fight for the punishment to be as mild as possible, and in the event of a prison sentence, in some cases, you can apply for permission to serve the sentence in the electronic monitoring system, for postponement of the execution of the sentence, a break in the execution of the sentence or early release from the execution of the sentence.
You may need the help of a solicitor who can act as your defence counsel from the very beginning of the case. I invite you to an individual consultation to assess what steps can be taken in your case.
What does conducting a criminal case look like?
In the case of a criminal case, we provide the Client with the necessary legal services, which primarily include representation before courts of any instance. A lawyer may also act in emergency situations, i.e. after the Principal’s arrest or pre-trial detention, if necessary. Therefore, an attorney may also appear before authorities such as the Police or the Public Prosecutor’s Office. He will also take care of completing the necessary legal documentation and completing all formalities.
A criminal lawyer in Krakow can defend himself in the case of proceedings concerning, for example:
- acts against health and life, which include serious damage to health or participation in a fight,
- economic fraud,
- traffic accidents, including those caused by intoxication,
- drug crimes,
- prohibited acts against property, i.e. theft, burglary.
We undertake the defence of detainees or defendants. In such situations, it is advisable to contact the law firm as soon as possible – in fact, the suspect has the right to do so from the first action carried out by law enforcement authorities.
It is also important that in our law firm you can obtain legal assistance also after hearing a final judgment. In such a case, it is possible to apply for serving the sentence in the electronic monitoring system, postponement of the execution of the sentence or a break in its execution. Of course, each case is individual, so specific explanations can be obtained from the lawyer after he or she has read the case file.
Attorney as a prosecutor in a criminal case
A lawyer in a criminal case may represent one of the parties, but it does not always have to be the defendant. As part of criminal law proceedings, we can also act on behalf of the aggrieved party, as an auxiliary or private prosecutor. In such a case, the task of the attorney is to lead the defendant to repair the damage caused and to seek compensation or redress from the perpetrator. If the victim has died as a result of a crime, the attorney may act on behalf of his or her family or a close person (for example, a spouse).
If you need the help of a criminal law attorney in Krakow, we encourage you to contact the Law Firm. We will be happy to provide you with the necessary information also by phone or e-mail.
